Contract Opportunities

The District’s procurement process complies with the requirements of regional, national, and international trade agreements along with the District’s Purchasing Policy. All purchases are made with the objective of meeting operational requirements, maximizing value for each dollar disbursed, and providing contractors, vendors and service providers with open, transparent, and fair opportunities. Agreements (executed contract or approved purchase order) will be in place before a vendor delivers goods or commences working on the delivery of services.

The District of Houston advertises competitive bid opportunities through BC Bid, on this page, and on social media.

Preferred Supplier Lists

Are You on the List? Unlock More Local Work Opportunities

Did you know many companies in our region rely on preferred supplier lists when they hire contractors or purchase supplies?

Large organizations like TransCanada Pipeline and BC Hydro use these lists to find trusted vendors. Getting registered puts your business in front of decision-makers when opportunities come up.

If your business is not on those lists, you may be missing out on valuable work.

Here are a few simple steps you can take:

Register with major companies

Opportunities with TC Energy

We encourage local vendors to reach out directly at coastalgaslink@tcenergy.com. Their team can help connect you with the appropriate supply chain contacts.

Current opportunities in TC Energy’s operations are somewhat limited, but still meaningful for local businesses.

Looking ahead, there is potential for more activity. If a Final Investment Decision is made for Phase 2, TC Energy expects to be back in the community working closely with local businesses. At that stage, vendors will be encouraged to register with prime contractors’ procurement systems to access opportunities tied to construction of proposed compressor stations.

Taking these steps can increase your visibility and open doors to new contracts right here in your region.

If you are unsure where to start or need help navigating registrations, reach out to the Houston & District Chamber of Commerce:
